Club President Maureen Alphonse-Charles appeared July 31 on "CityLine" with Karen Holmes Ward on WCVB-TV to discuss the significance of Michelle Obama's Democratic National Convention speech and Hillary Clinton's nomination, in a broader context for women. Maureen said this is a time of great opportunity for women to add to their numbers on corporate and nonprofit boards and to showcase their preparation and qualifications to lead. The Metropolitan Waterworks Museum, the nonprofit organization dedicated to the preservation and interpretation of Boston's water engineering legacy, has announced  the appointment of Barbara Elfman, MEd, as Executive Director. Barbara brings a wealth of experience working with nonprofit organizations, particularly in Greater Boston. Her background includes being the Administrative Director of the Advanced Studies Programs at Harvard University Graduate School of Design, as well as work at the Harvard Art Museums. 

Kathleen M. Fallon has been appointed by Governor Charles D. Baker to the Public Employee Retirement Administration Commission (PERAC). Kathy assumed the seat on the Commission reserved by statute for "the governor or his designee." Kathy is Practice Area Director and manages the Human Services Practice at Public Consulting Group (PCG), a Boston based company that provides national and international consulting in the government sector.

Halley Gilbert, Senior Vice President, Chief Legal Counsel, Ironwood Pharmaceuticals, Inc. was elected to the Board of Directors of Greater Boston Legal Services. Read the full press release here

Women in Engineering Magazine has published an interview with Joan Lampert focused on career development for young women in the engineering professions. The article, "Career Transitions: Don't Underestimate the Power of Preparation," is featured in the May 2016 issue.

Gene Miller has accepted a newly established position at Babson College as Director of the Social Sector Impact Initiative for the Lewis Institute and Babson Social Innovation Lab. She also remains a Senior Fellow for the Lewis Institute, as well as Treasurer of The Clipper Ship Foundation Board, in addition to several other board roles.

Blue Hills Bank has announced the appointment of Pamela C. Scott to its Board of Directors. Pam is president and CEO of LVCC, Inc, a business consulting firm, and has more than 30 years of experience in the financial services industry including multiple roles in institutional asset and investment management at State Street Corporation, U.S. Trust Company of New York and Citibank. Since retiring from the banking industry, Pam was appointed trustee of Salem State University by Governor Deval Patrick, where she later became chair and currently serves. 

Elizabeth Timm has been elected a director of AVANGRID, a diversified energy and utility company with more than $30 billion in assets and operations in 25 states. The company operates regulated utilities and electricity generation through two primary lines of business, Avangrid Networks and Avangrid Renewables. Betsey is currently a management and financial consultant for RE/MAX By the Bay in Portland, ME. Previously, she served as the Maine Market President of the Bank of America. She is president of the Maine chapter of the International Women's Forum and president of the board of the Girl Scouts of Maine. 

4moms, which is backed by Bain Capital Ventures, said Monday that Amy Villeneuve has been appointed to its Board of Directors. 4moms is a robotics company that makes high-tech baby gear.
