While you cannot directly apply for a board seat, you can let it be widely known that you are interested in board service. This will require you to be able to clearly articulate what you bring to a board and specifically what differentiates your board qualifications from the many other business professionals seeking to serve on boards.
Many well-qualified potential board members struggle to translate their experience and expertise into what boards are looking for. Join us for an interactive discussion to learn the dos and don’ts about how to create a compelling board bio and elevator pitch to differentiate yourself from others. In this Zoom session, Ellen Richstone and Pat Flynn will discuss the differences between a corporate board bio and a mutual fund bio as well as tips to enhance your elevator pitch. For this session, you will want to have a draft of your board bio so you can reference it in our discussions.
Space for this program is limited to 25.
Speakers:
Patricia M. Flynn is Professor of Economics & Management at Bentley University, where she also served as Dean of the McCallum Graduate School of Business for ten years. Previously she served on three bank boards, twice as the first woman on the board. Pat has been co-author of The Boston Club’s annual Census of Women Directors and Executive Officers of Massachusetts Public Companies since its launch in 2003.
