In 2018, the Eos Foundation launched the Women’s Power Gap Initiative. The approach is to collect public diversity data for leaders at the CEO level and the path to the top office, and to rank institutions within industries against one another. In this session, we will discuss the successes of this approach, the challenges still facing women and people of color in getting to the top office, and what we all can do to demand more transparency.

Andrea Silbert
joined the Eos Foundation as its first president in 2007. Eos is a private foundation making charitable investments in efforts to fight poverty and hunger and improve education in Massachusetts. Prior, Andrea was the Founder and CEO of the Center for Women & Enterprise, one of the largest nonprofit entrepreneurial training centers in the country. Andrea was a Democratic candidate for Lieutenant Governor of Massachusetts in 2006, campaigning on a
platform of job creation, economic development, economic justice, and poverty alleviation. Nationally, Andrea served as the founding President of the Association of Women’s Business Centers, meeting with Congressional leaders to promote legislation to assist women-owned small businesses. A nationally recognized advocate in the area of economic empowerment, Andrea was selected by Working Woman magazine – alongside Senator Barbara Mikulski and Gloria Steinem – as one of only 25 leaders in the past 25 years who “have given women in the workplace a better shot.” Andrea serves on the boards of the Alliance for Business Leadership (http://alliancebl.org/) and the Harwich Conservation Trust (http://harwichconservationtrust.org/). She is a graduate of Harvard University, where she earned a MBA, a Master of Public Administration and a BA in Economics.
